| the black magic fan has it's own shroud. It's a very close fan to shroud fit. there is a 1" bulb seal between the fan shroud and the intendended cooling item (radiator). there isn't any place for the fan to really 'leak' air or let it bypass. The black magic fan comes with it's own electronics to control operation. It is On or Off. There is no 'speed by need' option. It can be controlled via the stock Z32 fan circuit (230+ degrees electric fan turn-on on the z32, or with A/C), via a manual on/off switch, or it's own thermostatic operation. Wiring is very simple regardless of which option. Mine is installed with the thermostatic turn on/off. it comes on at 185-190degrees f. It works well and blows significant air. (SIGNIFICANT!). But for some reason, it is not cooling in stop and go traffic (0 to 5 mph, in gear). If I let it idle in a parking lot for 2 hours it is perfectly fine. If I keep the jeep moving (10mph+), it cools wonderfully. I've encountered this condition twice now where temps rose to 210+ degrees, and there was wisps of smoke coming from the hood vents/seals and the engine began to run slightly poorly. It happens while in stop and go traffic ONLY. I also have a $800+ over sized BeCool Aluminum radiator (It's a monster). Disclaimer, I am not comparing Apples to Apples. Just venting. Maybe I'll stumble on the problem if I 'type it out'. FYI: I haven't.
